Hello! My name is Seb Ospina. I’m 33 years old and I’ve been a professional paragliding pilot since 2013. Originally Colombian, I’ve become a British citizen and currently reside in Switzerland, where I work for a significant part of the year as a tandem pilot. When I’m not flying with tourists, you can find me in the world’s most important competitions, traveling, or guiding travelers from all over the world through the skies of Colombia.
My paragliding journey began in the year 2003, at the young age of 13 when my cousin Felipe motivated me to fly as a passenger. The last thing I imagined was that I would fall in love with this experience, turning it into my sole passion back then. After extensive negotiations with my parents, I finally managed to start and complete my training at the age of 14.
The years between 2005 and 2007 were truly amazing for me as I discovered the exhilarating world of Cross Country and competitions. I attended my first events in the Colombian league, and despite flying with an old and low-performance paraglider, I managed to reach my first podiums.
By late 2007, in search of new opportunities, I moved to London, England, where unfortunately I had to stop flying for 9 months. However, once established in the local flying community, I was able to take to the skies again. Despite the logistical and weather challenges of flying in the UK, I continued to strive for improvement and overcome obstacles to progress in my passion.
In 2010, thanks to a bank loan, I had the opportunity to participate in my first high-level competition tour, although once again I had to do it with a less competitive paraglider. Despite this, I learned a lot, made many friends, and realized that this was the life I truly wanted to live.
In 2013, after a break due to financial reasons, with a borrowed paraglider I unexpectedly became the Colombian Champion. Upon returning to the UK, I managed to complete my studies as a Television Producer. I bought a one-way ticket to Switzerland and fell in love with this country. That’s how I decided to move to Interlaken, Switzerland, in 2014, work on what I love to do, and surround myself with many of the world’s best pilots.
Since that moment, life has allowed me to travel, compete, share, and achieve countless accomplishments in this thrilling sport that I love so much.
